Another item from my extensive oriental collection which has been in storage for 20+ years.

This is a Chinese, hand painted, real egg shell there is a tiny hole in the bottom) with black enameled stand. The egg is about 3" X 2". The stand is 1 1/4" in diameter at the bottom and 1 ' high.

The painting is very brightly colored, and very detailed and intricate. I believe the writing on the back is the artist's signature.

Traditionally, these hand painted eggs were given as gifts for weddings, housewarming and births. They were displayed on pedestals and usually encased in glass. I did have this under a glass dome when I had my oriental collection displayed.
