Description

The listing, Vintage Halgreen mechanical wristwatch has ended.

Vintage Halgreen military style wristwatch. These watches were produced around the end of WWII, and involved in the push to have Swiss watches imported into the US.
17 jewel mechanical movement, still running strong. This is a vintage timepiece, unadjusted, so it will not be as accurate as many higher end brands. It keeps good time to within 3 mins every two or so days. There is some patina to the dial, but every number is still visible, and at each hour you can see 5 second increments. Case back reads "ANITMAGNETIC, STAINLESS STEEL BACK, WATER RESISTANT, INCABLOC, SWISS MADE"
Incabloc, for those unfamiliar, is a shock absorption mechanism in the movement.
The watch is keeping time, as I said, but the water tightness has not been tested, so I don't advise getting it wet, nor do I advise setting it next to speakers to test out the antimagnetic integrity.
I have not opened the case back, as I am not a watchmaker, so I would recommend having a service done on this piece.

Hi. Husband here. I try to make sure I know my stuff before I purchase something. Horology has become a passion because of the intricacy of watches and the story being the watchmakers. If you're into that, I recommend a book: Longitude. Its the story of the Harrison clock. Sorry. Just had to.

Thank you. My husband gets the credit. He collects antique watches. His daily wear is a pre-1965 Favre Leuba Sea-King. He also has a couple of 1960's Bulovas, a 1967 Accutron, and a 1960's Tissot.
