The listing, Lot of 2 French WWII ALUMINUM COINS 1 Francs 1942 Lb & 1943 Lb Vichy French has ended.
Nice collectible 1942 & 1943 (both lb mint marks) 1 Franc Vichy French occupied Aluminum Coins. These were produced while France was being occupied by the German Nazi Regime ran by Hitler. These 23 mm coins have a double ax with grain sprigs on the front with the value, oak leaves and date on the reverse along with the words Travail, famille, patrie (French pronunciation: [tʁavaj famij patʁi]; English: Work, family, fatherland) was the tripartite motto of the French State (usually known as Vichy France) during World War II. It replaced the republican motto, Liberté, égalité, fraternité of the Third French Republic. The bottom coin in two of the pictures is the 1942 and the top is the 1943. It appears that the 1942 is the "heavy" or "Thick" variety. The 1943 coin has a ding on the left rear side, not sure if it was an error or caused during circulation. These WWII coins are very collectible because of the German Occupation at the time of minting.
