Description

The listing, Sadler English Teapot has ended.

Sadler England teapot..fuchia pattern..rare,but top has pink roses. I can see this pot is quite old, but the top is suspect as it is not plain, but rather with a pink rose design. I can't read Hebrew, but gold numbers on bottom. This was a cool find at a local thrift shop..knew it was worth something to a collector, and bought it to share with all of you.

Love old English China even if the top is a wee bit suspect. Good find.

I honestly can't believe they ever made this thing for the practical purpose of serving tea...such a beautiful little thing..oh, how I wish I could just keep it and display it, but I can't..seriously, please don't bid on this unless you plan to love it or give it to someone who will...I already hate myself enough, but this is something special. Don't know how I got so lucky to find it...like I said: top is probably not original, but the pot itself is, well, just under 2 days till I need to say goodbye to it, and I already regret it. Can't stop looking at it...

The pot itself has the crackling pattern of something quite old...plus the gold Hebrew numbers underneath..like I say..the top has that rose pattern..I looked this up online and it seems to be worth around 60 to 70 bucks, but the top is with the rose pattern..the originals I saw were the exact top but plain. Anyway, my find at a second hand store..I bought for the express purpose of selling here. So much fun to find something others love as much as me when they see it.

From all I could find online..this is a somewhat rare patterned pot, but the original top is plain white with the gold accent on top..this looks to be the exact same style top, but with two opposing pink and yellow roses..this leads me to believe a collector once owned it, and either replaced the top with this one, or it was part of an estate settlement, and the heirs did not realize the top was incorrect. Either way, it is still an incredible piece to look at. I think the original I saw online was from the Netherlands and they wanted around $60-70 US for it. Still, I bought it for $1.99 and thought to myself "I bet someone would really love this on Listia"..I myself do not have the space for these things, and paintings are my primary thing, but if you like it in the photo you will love it when you see it.

Umm..yes, has the Sadler England on the bottom...gold numbers in Hebrew in between...pot itself has that old cracking pattern under the glaze..as if to suggest it is quite old..(which again makes me suspect the top as there is no cracking of the material)..will pad top and bottom seperate...but ship together..I do not want any damage to this so I may need to take a day to get pad together..I love this teapot, but it just isn't something I can display in my home, and i am an oil painting lover myself. Still...It is a worthy piece, and I promise you will not be disappointed.

The one thing I cannot find is a manufacture date for this...the earliest of Sadler teapots were from the 1800's..I would guess at this to be around the 1920's or 30's..if anyone can date this for me, I would love to know it's history.

P.S. my fiance' thinks I am mad for selling it here, but I told her "You were with me when I found this, and the first thing I said was "someone is going to love this on Listia". My house is like the Louvre..and I want this piece of art to go to a home where it will be displayed and loved...a lot to ask, I know, but I have faith in someone out there to love looking at it as much as I do.
