The listing, Jadeite Scotty Ink Blotter (1930's) has ended.

20th Century Jadeite Scotty Ink Blotter. Still has the original metal clips and the original felt piece. (which is very worn) I believe this was used to blot up the ink after writing with a nib pen. From the 30’s. It’s size measures a bit under 3 &1/2” long, 2 & 1/2” inches tall. Approx 1 &3/4 inches wide. Slightly dirty from being on display for over 50 years, in China Cabinet. (Who am I kidding, I never dust!) This item was my Grandmothers, and passed down to my Mom then myself. See photos for description. It’s a cute little Scotty!

its ok that its glass its still very unique and cute and it has a color of jade but mold marks can be seen so I`m sure it is glass

Jadeite is produced by melting down green glass with other cheap glass that is then poured into metal molds. These molds were fairly basic and the items produced often had rough edges.

Occasionally, fine lines, called straw marks, are found on the surface of the glass and you can sometimes see a little glass bubble from the mold’s release spring. Neither of these affects the value of the piece.

you should look up scotty ink blotters on ebay they are all glass. i am not being mean but this must be one unique blotter to be the only one made of real jade material. the winner of this auction should be prepared for it to be glass and not stone.

Wow this is like reading a book. I just saw your cute rocking horse and am a jadeite collector and really want this cutie. What are all the crazies complaining about? I lost track trying to sort out all the emails but bottom line is you are fine and the negatives do not have a clue about jadeite (as we collectors know it). Anyway from one Nancee to another, I applaud you and am hoping to call this little guy my own.

very nice auction, i believe this is glass not jadeite because of the mold marks. It is rare to find one with the clips and blotter attached!!!
