Description

The listing, Ancient Roman Coin of Diocletian has ended.

In its early years, the vigorous Roman Empire had brought the Pax Romana to much of the known world. But as the time passed, the Empire began to decline and fall. And by the reign of Diocletian in 284 A.D., barbarian hordes were pressing Rome's boarders steadily inward.
But this able ruler changed all that, reorganizing the Roman government and its coinage as well as improving the economy (he even legislated a price freeze to control inflation!). Soon Rome had regained much of its former greatness.
This bronze coin in very fine or better condition is testament to Diocletian's skills. Known as antoniniani, it was issued before he reformed the Empires's coinage. Still, it exhibits a breath-taking portrait of a man who brought order out of chaos nearly 1,600 years ago.

Very nice! Looks to be enough detail that you can read the legend on both sides. Is that CONCORDIA MILITUM on the reverse? Even looks like you can read the mint mark, although it's hard to make out in the picture. Good luck!
