This book is about the best way to see in practical depth the viable alternatives to conventional home construction; you get a real sense of what log, stone, timber frame, pole, and other types of houses would be like to build (or have built for you), including enough detail to actually build one, and at the same time learn what they would be like to live in and take care of; if you're interested in something more than the standard development house or a formerly sturdy but older home that takes a lot of work to keep up, this book offers a readable and interesting way to explore the options and make up your mind
