Thank you. I am a dunce when it comes to this. I do know about the control panel though. I need one for a job and my built in one will not plug in and I finally just decided to get one to stop the stressing with trying to figure it out. My daughter says I need one and that is why my built in one will not work. I just want to get one at not too much expense to see how it goes and then I might buy a newer and more expensive one. I appreciate the time you took to answer me; I may have not understood your explanation above.

I know I am going to sound like an idiot here, but can you use this on a computer? I am thinking not, but that is what I need. I saw some On here I know would work, but I am leery of having to pay shipping with them.

i think i already answered this but yes you have to go to control panel sounds and devices and it will test your sound
