The listing, Boye Bodking Ribbon Leaders has ended.

Offering a new Old Stock (NOS) package of vintage Ribbon Leaders. I am stumped here and am not sure how these were used. The directions state: Thread one inche of ribbon through long slit, then through square hole. Ribbon is then pulled by long and tightly. Could these be for ribbon embroidery? Made in the USA. If you know how these are used, please comment. Be sure to check out all of the sewing and needlecraft items I have listed this week

This is a tool to thread ribbon (or whatever else) easily thru lace or any other open weave fabric.

If you type in "vintage bodkin" in EBAY you will see many different shapes and sizes of them.

Ribbon embroidery only uses a sharp, large eye needle to "embroider" on fabric with silk (normally) ribbon or with any ribbon you want to use for effect.

Bodkins are used for guiding not piercing (as a needle does) ribbon thru fabric.

Kind of like an ink pen. There are many to chose from depending on the job you want to do! Hope that analogy helps !
