Do the flint striker wheels turn when the button is pushed down? Sometimes they don't. It's also likely there's an old flint corroded in the flint tube. Sometimes, it corrodes in a manner that keeps the spark wheel from turning.

Wheel turning is good thing. They can be troublesome. That probably means they're okay so far as working. Are the wicks visible?

Is there anything on the bottom of them? Japan is usual, many were US made, some were made in Germany. French Mylflam's are rarer.
