Very nice example of the then new 5 Reichspfennig Bronze coin. The Reichsmark (divisible by 100 Reichspfennig) became the new legal tender on 30 August 1924, equal in value to the Rentenmark which was discontinued. This marked a return to a gold-backed currency in connection with the implementation of the Dawes plan. This new coin helped to stabilize German currency. This is the first year of the Reichspfennig so it makes these coins great collectors pieces, investments and gifts!
