Description

The listing, Loreena McKennitt - 2 CDs & 2 cassettes has ended.

2 CDs & 2 audio cassettes by Loreena McKennitt.
The CDs:
(1) "Elemental," 1994 - This represents McKennitt’s debut of Loreena. Though her work became more complex as time passed, all the elements were already in place: her beautiful voice, ethereal arrangements, and her exotic adaptations of traditional songs.

(2) "Mask & Mirror," 2000 - McKennitt infuses Celtic and New Age sounds with a mix of influences as diverse as Moroccan, Greek, Turkish, Indian, Native American, & Italian. McKennitt's travels through Spain and Morocco flavor this album with a distinctly Mediterranean tinge, "Marrakesh Night Market" is an especially strong performance. As usual, McKennitt has set a poem to music, this time Yeats's "The Two Trees." The CD closes with Shakespeare, as McKennitt sets some of Prospero's words from "The Tempest" to her own music .

The audio cassettes:
(1) "The Visit," 1992/1997 - This was McKennitt's breakthrough album and remains one of her most musically interesting. "All Souls Night" begins the album, with dance-like rhythms and McKennitt's wonderful voice singing about the Celtic New Year. A setting of words from Shakespeare's Cymbeline closes the album, which focuses thematically on life, death, and the borders between them.

(2) "To Drive the Cold Winter Away'" 1994 - McKennitt writes, "As a child, my most vivid impressions of music for the winter season came from songs & carols recorded in churches or great halls, rich with their own unique ambience and tradition."

I have researched the shipping cost to Canada. It looks like it would be no more than $6.00. If that is the case, I will ship to Canada. Anything over $6.00, you pay. Please send your mailing address; so I can try it out before the auction ends.
