Description

The listing, LIVE WALKING EGYPTIAN ONION SETS has ended.

1 set to start opening bid; Add 1 plant for every 1800 points.

These lives starts are not finnicky! Your weather still cold? Get these in a dusting of potting soil and mist them to damp not soggy and they will wait.

Easier still keep in your frig wrapped in a papertowel , misting the roots just before dried and they will take off as soon as you get them out.

Don't be afraid to get these out as soon as you can scratch a dusting of soil. This onion is also known as a Winter Onion. I live in North Central ID. The pictures show a portion of what I grew without doing any winter prep or work. Though I suppose I have given them a bit of my composted chicken bedding every couple three years.

You will be starting your very own self sustaining onion patch.

These onions are so easy to grow! My plot began 20 years with sets from a friend's garden in Bland, New Mexico, @ 7400 above sea level in a narrow mountain canyon that got very little winter light.

They have been with me through several moves and have blessed many others with a VERY VERSATILE ONION. YOU CAN USE IT AS: Green Onion, small oinion bulb below or above ground or as you would shallots. Lovely mild creamy flavor.

You don't have to do much, throw them in a workable plot and let them do the rest. I do like to plant them in the ground a bit sometimes to encourage bigger underground bulb growth. I have grown these is the Southwest, Inland Pacific Northwest and Baja. Never fussed over them and my current plot has sustained itself for more than a decade.

Mailed Free to Verified US Addresses.

My dog Pepper Jack, a 20 lb Jack Russell was kind enough to let me use her for perspective purposes. And besides she is just so sweet, cute and photogenic.

Thanks for visiting and for your generous bids.

I have Della (Beagle/Jack) and she has never been the photogenic type =(
I would love to bid on your auction but I live in SW Florida - Zone 10 and it doesn't matter what vegetable or fruit I have tried either a insect, worm, fungus, chameleon or Della trying to play with a freshly captured (dead) chameleon seems to undermine my very determined attempts at gardening in Florida. If I am digging do is she...lol.
I seem to be great at growing orchids though......who would have thunk it - a PA farm girl that can't grow food?

Della sounds adorable. I understand, the Florida humidity and heat are not conducive to vegetable gardening. Must be kind of weird not to grow food though.

It is my pleasure to get these awesome onions on auction. I have set up several auctions for these beauties that provide a variety of auction options. So hopefully anyone wanting some may find a method that works for them.
