Questions & Comments
Great auction, I just wish there would have been a gin to consider.
Fine silver has a millesimal fineness of 999. Also called pure silver, it contains 99.9% silver.
Sterling silver has a millesimal fineness of 925. The alloy is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5 per cent copper or other metals.
German silver should be marked with a millesimal fineness of 800 or 835. Anything marked "German silver" "nickel silver" or "Alpaca" contains NO silver at all; these are simply alloys of base metals.
Ok the hall of fame is a sterling silver proof. The Shark coin is a half ounce.Thank you both for your interest!I admit I do not know the difference between fine and sterling.
Same question as the previous person--did you mean pure silver--that's why it is tarnishing. Also the shark piece is that also one ounce pure silver? This is a nice collection.
