A fascinating tropical plant that can be used as an accent plant in containers for its unique spiraling foliage. I have not been able to get this to bloom as I believe it needs to be very large to do so but I love the foliage. I got it from a flower shop I worked at. The large canes grown in tropical conditions are used in floral designs and each node(stem segment) will grow a new plantlet. The third picture is my plant. It grows it's leaves in a spiral formation and sends out suckers just below the surface of the soil. A great garden plant for all you zone 9 and 10 gardeners. You will receive 3 canes pieces that are 6in+ pictured in 4th picture.
Questions & Comments

I am quite sure horizontal would work and result in every node sprouting. I recommend cutting the stems into 2 or 3 node pieces and planting them. The nodes grow in a spiral. If you leave the stems as they are some of the nodes will face downward rather then upward. Hope that helps.

Do we place them horizontally on/in the soil for new growth?
