does the helicopter itself take batteries or charge via usb or some other means? im assuming the controller takes AAA batteries?

Controller takes batteries, the helicopter just charges but I'm not sure exactly how it charges. I have not opened the box. My son used too have one similar too this and I can't remember if it charged by a cable through the controller or an actual power outlet. I think the controller takes AA batteries.

i have had several small choppers like this just not that changed colors ,,but i belive they go 500 feet up and thats pretty high and you have to be careful flying that high as it can get away from you,,,watching,,nice item

I know exactly what you mean!!!! Yes they do go very high. If a person is knew to flying these, it takes a minute to learn how to maneuver it. But it's not hard at all.good luck too you!!!
