Among the easiest plants to grow, Hens- and- Chicks tolerate heat, drought and neglect in style. Useful in rock gardens, container garden of all types, rooftop garden & rock walls. This selection, "Hopewell", has large-sized rosettes with pointy leaves of bright jade green. As the plants mature, they slowly turn a pretty red wine color. Remove small rosettes to start new plants at any time!
Hen and chicks (aka, hen-and-chickens, or hen-and-biddies in American South) is a common name for a group of small succulent plants belonging to the flowering plant family Crassulaceae, native to Europe and northern Africa. They grow close to the ground with leaves formed around each other in a rosette and propagating by offsets.
