What would you combine to make an antimicrobial blend for wound healing?

Good question.
The blend created would depend on which type of wound you are dealing with.

If the goal is simply to disinfect, and there is no open wound, tea tree, citronella, cedarwood, or an inexpensive citrus oil will work great.

If there is no open wound or scab, and you'd like to prevent scarring, a blend with ylang ylang, chamomile, and helichrysum would be a good choice. (although, costlier than citrus) Frankincense, Lavender, or other oils could be added also.

For inflammation and pain, chamomile, mint oils, lavender, and camphorous oils can help.

Our Ultimate Blend may be a good choice, also. It contains over 40 different essential oils.

This is great! I've heard some oils can be used for nausea... I'm going on 30 weeks of pregnancy and have been incredibly ill the entire time, in and out of the hospital on IV's for fluids because I can hardly swallow without getting sick.... What would help with that? I'd love something to at least ease the nausea even a little

Congratulations! How exciting! My wife is at 36 weeks right now! :)
Mint oils, especially peppermint and spearmint, are commonly used by pregnant women to help with morning sickness and nausea.
Citrus oils are also known to be helpful. Lemon is most popular.

My wife responds well to almost any camphorous or menthol oils, which includes the mint family, camphor, ravintsara, myrtle leaf, rosemary, eucalyptus, etc.

If you can, smell a piece of spearmint chewing gum. If it smells good and doesn't cause any sort of repulsion, spearmint oil may be a good one to try! You could do the same test with peppermint candy or tea.

These are real, genuine, pure, undiluted, completely natural, and organic plant oils. The finest essential oils available. Better than "therapeutic grade". Our essential oils contain no synthetic compounds, adulterants, or base oils.

The majority of oils are fine to be used on the skin, but we encourage everyone to research and understand the properties of any oil before application.

Cinnamon and oregano oil can burn and blister the skin. Mint oils will cause a strong cooling sensation which may be uncomfortable for those with more sensitive skin.

Dilution is always advised.

Bid to win. If you're familiar with essential oils, we guarantee you'll be impressed by ours. :)

Why don't you have more of the flower oils. I understand that you are interested in healing oils but I don't know anything about that. I do however love the smell of Rose and Kate Jasmine and others. I would love to bid but can't because these oils tell me nothing. Sorry. Nice auction though.

Well there is plenty of information online. If you google "Benefits of ______" And insert any oils into the blank above, you will find oodles of information.
If we provided all the information right here on our listings, it would be like reading a chapter book.

Flower oils, especially Rose, are much more expensive, so we do not offer them here on Listia. For a single 10ml Bottle of Rose oil, we would need about 1,750,000 credits. Listia doesn't allow a GIN or start bid over 500,000.

Okay awesome :) congrats to you guys too! I'll definitely be picking up one of your auctions this week then after I try your spearmint test lol. I'm desperate for any relief from this 24/7 sickness even if it's just for the last 2 months lol

Thanks! Hope you can get some sort of relief, as that sounds miserable!
One other oil that is great for nausea: Anise Seed. However, it's the main flavoring agent in black licorice, which many people detest. If you like black licorice, Anise Seed would be a good oil to try!

There are certain companies that promote using as much oil as possible in every way imaginable, then charge exuberant prices. - Always be wary of the information provided by anyone selling you anything. - Us included. We would rather our customers take the time to research and understand the oils they are using.

In regards to ingestion, it is generally not advised. I can't and won't encourage anyone on Listia to ingest any oils, as I do not list oils on Listia for the purpose of ingestion.

I like to explain this in simple terms.
First of all: Your stomach contains hydrochloric acid, which is extremely corrosive and will break down any organic compounds. (That's why it's there, to break down your food)
Now imagine putting a very volatile oil, which mere AIR will affect, into this extremely corrosive environment. The chemistry of the oil changes drastically and it's digested, and very little of it is actually absorbed by the body.

Second: It’s true that you shouldn’t ingest anything unless you know what it is, and what it is in it. However, these same companies that promote ingestion of their products do not provide the information necessary to determine it’s constituents.

Third: Many plants and the oils extracted from them, are simply not meant to be eaten. Do you ever snack on pine needles? What about the wood of a cedar tree? – Of course not. And the oils from them should not be ingested either.

In Conclusion: You probably shouldn't be eating your oils! It can be harmful if you don't understand the consequences. Your body absorbs less of the beneficial compounds than when applied topically. And it uses up more oil, which is added expense.

So. to the best of your knowledge, does patchouli have any healing or therapeutic factors? I've always loved the scent but never considered it to be anything more than a scent.

Lavender, Bergamot, Cedarwood, Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, Basil. There are actually several. We do have a Sleep Deep blend which I fine tuned over the years to help with my insomnia. It's one of our most popular blends, and smells wonderful. :)

Always research the properties of essential oils before use. - And don't depend on just one source of information, especially if it is provided by an essential oil company.

Wikipedia, WebMD, PubMed, and PubChem are good sources for information.
I would advise going to pubmed.gov and search for essential oils there. Example "Lavender Essential Oil" - This will pull a long list of REAL research that has been done and provide the result of many different tests and experiments.

Pubmed is a government website, and they are not trying to sell anyone anything.
