This is very beautiful and old... It is in good shape... The chain is broken.. Nothing broken on pendant... It is going as is... Zoom in on all pictures.. I tried to get plenty... It is from ST. FRANCISVILLE, LOUISIANA... Down in Louisiana where the black trees grow.... No telling what this is.... Or where it's been. Starting at -O- bid it's worth to you....

I have this exact item. Bought at an estate sale. Was told that it was Purchased in India. The lady said they traveled there in the 50's. Mine has broken in the same spot also. Lucky I found the little jump ring and repaired it. Hope this gives you helpful info. Good luck w/your auction!

I love Louisiana !!! I'm not sure what this thing is... It has cotton crammed in it... Smells like old perfume ... Scared to smell too much in case it has a spell in it or on it LOL!!

My brother is 81 .. He said maybe snuff?? It has a wad of cotton that has turned brown in it now...it smells like perfume..OLD perfume... It is not a poison pendant, unless you plan on killing more than one... Just saying they did it not me... It could be smelling salts.. Thanks Becky!

No... The Chain that connects it is broken... It doesn't have a clasp on it... It is odd the way it's made.. It has a short chain to the lid ; and then the chain goes around your neck....chain is included , but it's not attached.. Wish I knew more about it.. Thank you for looking....
