Description

The listing, Hand-Crocheted Purse with Matching Brooch/Pendant has ended.

Me and my combo designs....here's another:

This purse is hand-crocheted by me with the brooch also designed and created by me.

The purse measures about 13" wide by 8 1/2" tall. The strap is about 30" long for over-the-shoulder wear.

The yarn I used has been crocheted with 100% imported Turkish thread for 'sparkles in the fabric.'

It has a waterproof, zippered lining which can be removed. The purse has already been prewashed so it is 'felted' and 'set.'

The brooch can also be worn as a necklace/choker on its included black satin cord.

There is a LOT of versatility with these pieces that are one-of-a-kind originals I have created.

It's hard to photograph everything in 'real life' but I know whoever wins this will be completely delighted!

A small laptop, tablet pc, or ereader would fit PERFECTLY and be well-protected because the inner pouch is padded----and waterproof!!!

Thank you! Others who have seen it in person have offered me $ for it but it's staying on Listia. So far THAT bidding has gone up to $65. I know I could take it down and take the money but I don't need the cash----I need credits!

Yes, this is crochet but now I've gone and taught myself tatting. THAT one is really a 'lost art' and, unfortunately, none of my German grandmothers taught me that one so I taught myself. It's much more delicate than even crochet using thread. I'm getting geared up to put up some Victorian chokers I almost have done with pendant(s). My cotton CROCHETED chokers went through the roof in recent listings but even my husband is amazed at the look of the tatting. It's VERY delicate and 'lacier' than the crochet.

I also have another purse/combo up. I'm not doing any more of them because I really, really love doing the 'tiny' work with the chokers and using polymer clay or other jewelry pieces that go with them. So, only these two purse/brooch/pendant combos are going to be made.

Using a shuttle for tatting is over-rated, I think. You're making more movements than necessary and trying to get the thread to lay right (do this 'flip' thing).

I discovered needle tatting on accident on YouTube. Just run a search and the lady with the 'green fingernails' and other different colors will get you going. When I discovered her after entering 'needle tatting' in the search on YouTube, I first went, "Whew....what a relief to do it THIS way" and used her tutorial to make a medallion.

It's a LOT of fun and it's even more fun to see people's faces when they see things made from 'needle and thread.' They're simply amazed.

Other people who I've run into on the web who tat have also said there isn't anything you can't do with the needle versus a shuttle. It's also much, much faster. I'll be getting a choker up here tomorrow and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. It's really awesome.

I got a set of tatting needles on eBay, books on Amazon, and a ton of free patterns from the web. I zipped the latter into a file and, if you'd like a copy of it (they're .pdf's), just send me your email and I send it over to you.

You bet. I try and remember people who have specifically asked for things and file them away in my brain. You were one of them because you wanted a special gift for a special person who impacted your life :-)

Not at the moment. I only did two of them (I'm keeping a third open one to listen to audio books on my Kindle).

I've really gotten into tatting and LOVE IT! So, that's what is taking up most of my time these days: tatting chokers and bracelets. I have a choker listed now with more to come with different threads and awesome beads.

Thank you for asking!

I got a tatted choker done and listed! It's purple, so delicate and lacy; very Victorian and has purple glass beads incorporated into it! http://www.listia.com/r308wr/511027

Speaking of learning needle arts as a child, I was lucky to have several German great-grandmothers who taught me everything BUT tatting. I recently tried messing with a shuttle but then discovered needle tatting and I LOVE IT! They also didn't teach me bobbin lace (we're going back to the 18th century---if not earlier) with both tatting and making lace with bobbins. They're both considered 'lost arts' and I like both of these arts' results better than crochet.

So, to make a long story short, I'm not crocheting for quite some time. I just love the lacier/finer look of tatting and bobbin lace way to much to make any more purse/brooch sets. My clay work, however, I'll keep up with for pendants and other embellishments for the chokers and bracelets I'm tatting and will be listing soon.

So, the two purse sets I have listed right now are it.

Thanks for your comments and dropping by! Fanned you.

I am way too uncoordinated to learn how to crochet. Years ago my sister in law gave me lessons on knitting and I could not get it down. Wish I had learned as a child.... Anyway this is a beautiful bag... If I had the credits I would definitely bid on it....I hope you list another one...

What is the brooch made of please?

Hi! Thank you for your compliments. The brooch is made of polymer clay that has been heat-glazed over with resin. To make the resin even stronger, I often add diamond chips and/or dust for durability.
