Description
The listing, Vintage Ambrotype Photograph of a Young woman, Circa 1855 has ended.
This "Union Box" is quite ornate. Unfortunately the binding has been broken; I'm not sure how difficult it is to fix, but i'm sure it can be done. Otherwise this vintage photograph is in remarkably good condition. This Union Box is about 2 and 1/2" across and 3 inches down.
Questions & Comments
I love these early portraits and I've adopted a few ancestors through collecting these. My wife finds them a bit creepy but I think they are tiny glimpses into the past. Just think, besides your own DNA, what other than these pictures exists to document their existence on this Earth. Paper documents are cool, but a picture says so much more
I agree...I have wonderful photographs of my extended family...a huge box ful. One is a relative that owned a Grocery Store; Bananas are hanging from a pole..i just love it!
I believe she is...It seems that i remember her first name being Jane. Her last name may come to me. We just cleaned out my mom's big farmhouse and she had so very many photographs! There is a really pretty velvet album stuffed with tintypes...they are all ancestors ~ except U.S. Grant of course!
