Description

The listing, Hand made quilt with dolls and buttons has ended.

this quilt was made my me and a Step Grand Child. it's called my "Baby Mama Drama Quilt." It's hard when you are introduced to a child when she is 2 and she becomes your step granddaughter. But by the time she was 6 she has been brain washed to think our side doesn't love her. This quilt was made by both of us, she picked which hat went with which dress, where the buttons and the embellishments went and the back ground of the quilt which was princess. I haven't seen this child in two years, and every time I see this quilt it breaks my heart. If you are reading this, Please remember to love your children enough to let others do the same. Even if it's the fathers new family.
the quilt has been laundered. I didn't check but I think an item or two might be missing. 35"x45" all items in pictures are there, but I saw one hand without an item, so possibly we made it that way but I can't remember. Please no Gin request. questions relating to the quilt are fine. but not the Baby Mama Drama situation. Thanks ahead of time. Also I was just going to give to someone but I rather not have this with anyone I know, or any place that I might see it again. I would like another little girl to enjoy this. 3 and older. the embellishments are permanent glued on, but just the possibilities that they can come off would be scary enough. all hand and machine stitched.

I thank you for that, I too wish and pray the best for my step grand daughter. I worry how she will turn out as a young lady. She is only 8 but the whole story sounds like a Dr Phill story or a soap opera. its very complicated. I hope the quilt just goes to any little girl to decorate her bed.

thanks you for that. Its never going to get any better, she is now 8 and has decided that she wants nothing to do with her dad. And so if she doesn't see him, she wouldn't see me. I do thank you for your comments that is very nice of you.

This quilt is similar to one I had growing up, Made by my Mom & Grandma. It brings back good memories. Hopefully, your granddaughter will remember the quilt & what a special time she had with you making it. Hold onto the Hope for a better future with her. It's a sad situation. But don't give up, completely. I loved reading the comments of encouragement. I don't even have enough credits to bid.It just brought back fond memories.I really think that is such a beautiful quilt. Good Luck.

Don't fret I too was a child of a messy divorce & never got to see my fathers side of the family. Believe me kids do need both parents!! It's the parents stupidity sometimes that gets in the way :( I was afraid of hurting my mom so I wouldn't ask about my dad. As soon as I was legally able I took a greyhound bus to see him & that side of my family.
So you see there is in fact hope!! There is NO DOUBT in my mind that you have a place in that little girls heart. I'm sure you will have a relationship with her again someday kids never forget who touched there hearts ❤️
This is a beautiful quilt too!! It shows great craftsmanship, creativity & love.
I'd love to share this with my grandchild ☺️❤️ God Bless You & Your Loved Ones. ❤️☺️

thanks for that. yea by the time she is 18 I do think it will be far too late. Just today I was looking at pictures to make my daughter a picture pillow for Christmas and kept finding ones of this child, happy as can be. It is hard to explain.

Beautiful quilt! My Grammy made me one much like it; the pattern was "Sun Bonnet Sue". I have fond memories of that quilt and of my Grammy. She was my closest friend and co conspirator...i lost her way too soon. Everyone needs a Gramma! xxx

Yes, Grandmas are a reflection of your mom. The Grandma is the one that brought up the mom or the dad. And for me. Believe it or not My two daughters don't sew, crochet or cross stitch. I taught myself being alone a lot while hubby was in the Military. Everyone has their own gifts. My Grandkids are always saying making me a blanket like I can just wip them out :)

As a Mommy of 5 of which 3 that were mine before I got with my husband, I want you to know I know exactly how you feel and its terrible to deny the other side of the family a relationship. I wouldn't dream in a million years of EVER taking my babies away from my husbands side of the family, even if we split...

Thanks for sharing your story. People out there don't realize that the child is not the only one hurt. I have 4 Grandsons, and when the Step Grand daughter came into our lives , we were thrilled. Children do tend to believe what is told to them over and over and some times mom's revenge can be displayed in the child.

My mom was a Home Ec teacher...tho we got to try out things like leather tooling, candle making, etc..., she never seemed to have the time to teach us (4 girls). But most of us learned anyway...the spark had been ignited!
My Grammy was sweet and nurturing...my mom wasn't exactly tuned into feelings/ emotions.I was the youngest and my Gram always told my mom "She will be a comfort to you in yout old age". (I guess i was quite a challenge to raise!) My grammy was right...i just spent the last 3 years caring for my mom till she passed...not one of my sisters would have adjusted their lives to be with her. I feel profoundly lucky to have been with her!!

Ah, such a sweet daughter, Your soul /heart has been set free from childhood stuff. My mom never was a touching feely person. Because she was abused. So as I grew up I understood. And sometimes you just have to forgive how they were cause they didn't know any better. AND circumstances didn't allow something different. And sometimes you have to destroy that mold in yourself and go down a different path. You by caring for your mom, found the love for her, you will never have regrets.

A few years ago my eldest sister got angry with me. I really don't even know what it was that had made her angry...but she will hold a grudge for a very long time! The last time that i had seen them all her oldest girl had a litte one, and her youngest girl's babe was almost ready to be born.
And that's where time stopped with us. One neice had a second girl, and the other had a little girl and then a son.
Anyway, my thoughts are why in the world would she use those little darlings to further her grudge? I never even knew it was ok for family to leave you..to shut you out! It baffles and frustrates me, and mostly makes me sad. But you know it makes me feel really sad for her... I could never carry around so much anger.
So i feel your pain..but i think that you are fortunate to have a good heart. When you think of that little girl.just hope that she shares that gift with you. It's so much easier when you don't take the pain personally...remember that it's the pain or anger of the parents that keeps your little one away. I pray and do believe that your Grand Child will return to you...i'm hoping that for myself too. xx

ah, I feel like you are so right in a lot of ways, My daughter and son had a spat cause of the wife of my son. They have not talked in 7 years. cause my Grandson was born, and what upsets me, is that they don't know what a wonderful boy this child is. He started reading when he was 18 months. He is now in 1st grade and reading 3-4 grade level. He had lived with me and I spent a lot of time teaching him. but my son will never know how gifted this child in and heart that is so pure. My daughter in law even defriended me on fb. So I get it from all sides. She did that cause I bragged a lot about my grandkids. But it's their loss. Not mine. And worse is I have two grandsons from her and my son and the boys don't even know each other. they would of been best friends i'm sure. Life is too short to keep grudges.
