This chain is about 18 inches long. The clasp is like a lanyard clasp but can easily be switched, by any jewelry maker, to a lobster or spring clasp. I don't know if it's gold plated or gold filled. I DO know that it's comfortable on the neck and won't turn your skin green, lol. It's not exactly a snake necklace but that's what it reminds me of.
