The Southern Vampire Mysteries, also known as The True Blood Novels and The Sookie Stackhouse Novels, is a series of books written by bestselling author Charlaine Harris. The first installment, Dead Until Dark (2001), won the Anthony Award for Best Paperback Mystery in 2001 and later served as the source material for the HBO drama series True Blood (2008–2014). The book series has been retronymed the True Blood Series upon reprinting, to capitalize on the television adaptation.
In The Southern Vampire Mysteries/True Blood Series, Harris develops a detailed mythology and alternate history that approaches supernatural beings as real; at the beginning of the series, vampires' existence has only been public knowledge for a couple of years, while other supernatural beings, such as werewolves, shapeshifters, faeries, etc., exist but do not go public until later in the series. The setting is contemporary, and the stories occasional reference popular culture.

Just an fyi if you didn't know (disregard if you do LOL) ****A lot of Listian's don't know how to reply to comments --You can check your notifications icon and click on it, it will take you to the comment and then in the comment block select the blue highlighted "Reply" button OR on your "My Listia" page, scroll down the page and on the left hand side it says "Comments you haven't replied to" and do the same as above (clicking on the "REPLY" button). If you just add a comment on your listings people won't know you are replying to them :/ Sometimes it doesn't register as a 'reply' if you're using the phone app though --I think it's just a glitch.

Thanks for your question! It prompted me to look it all over, and I noticed that the eighth book fits in the slipcase. So, still nine books for sale. But, there are EIGHT in the set and one loose.

To answer your question about how many in the series: 13 total; with a guide book and an anthology. Here are the other titls in the series that I don't have for sale right now:
