This chain is about 18 inches long. The clasp is like a lanyard clasp but can easily be switched, by any jewelry maker, to a lobster or spring clasp. I don't know if it's gold plated or gold filled. I DO know that it's comfortable on the neck and won't turn your skin green, lol. It's not exactly a snake necklace but that's what it reminds me of. I've used this with euro beads and wire wrapped pendants. The options are limitless. You should be able to see if it's a style you like from the pictures.
