Offered is an earlier celluloid pinback, as this was included in a collection of World War II buttons and pins and was issued PRIOR to 1955 and the AFL (American Federation of Labor) merger with CIO (Congress of Industrial Organizations).
It is a 1" (one inch) celluloid membership button, badge, pinback or pin for the AMERICAN FEDERATION OF GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES A.F. OF L. AFL (A.F.G.E.) 1st DISTRICT, (Massachusetts serving New England?). It is no longer listed as one of the 12 Districts of the AFGE. (This pinback was associated with a collection that had a Navy Torpedo Station, Newport, Rhode Island employee id badge.)
May be appropriate for a homefront collection. Shows patriotic red, white stripes and blue shield of A.F.G.E. Union bug embossed on the reverse metal.
