The listing, 10 Caribbean Red Papaya Seeds has ended.
The Caribbean Red Papaya is large like a maradol papaya and has the appearance of the common strawberry papaya. Its melon-like flavor, fragrant aroma and beautiful salmon red interior most resemble a strawberry papaya, only much sweeter. The fruit has an extremely high sugar content. Red papaya adds color and taste to any salad or can be served chilled topped with a dollop of vanilla ice cream for a tasty tropical sundae!
Description
The papaya plant can be considered a giant fast growing herb with a stout trunk and large tropical leaves. Papayas are easy to grow and will reward you with an abundance of fruit within the first two years. Most produce fruit all year. This melon-like fruit varies in size and shape and is not only delicious, but it is very good for you. It contains the enzyme papain which aids in digestion. The papaya prefers full sun, moisture and good drainage. Papaya do not like wet feet and must have very well drained soil. I would recommend Citrus Granular 4-6-8 fertilizer during warm months to ensure proper nutrition.
Selection, Storage & Handling:
Fruit ripens green to yellow and is ripe when more than 50% of the papaya has turned a bright yellow. Caribbean Reds have a much longer shelf life than most other papaya varieties.
