I'm very new to this and you all sound so experienced. Would anyone care to explain what GIN is and give me any advice?

Sure! First of all, welcome to Listia...and your new addiction! My top piece of advice would be to tell you to read as much as you possibly can of the rules and policies and how things work. The second is don't go all In as soon as you start. Get a couple 'wins' under your belt and get some experience using the site. Try to use the website and then if you can, use the app along with it.
GIN is an acronym for Get It Now. It is an option that sellers can, if they choose, post a set amount for an item, and if a buyer wants to get it right then, they can pay that set price which, ends the auction immediately, and the item is theirs! Some sellers only do GIN's and others do the standard auction with GIN as an option.

It is really sad. Things seem to be really slipping on here. The users have gotten VERY young (I'm talking 11-12 year olds), I encounter way more rude people then in the past, and getting someone to click "item received" after they get an item is like pulling teeth sometimes! It's just not as enjoyable as it used to be in my opinion. And the credits ratio is ridiculous because some people can't or won't do the math to figure out what a dollar is worth. When I'm sending out a $20 new items plus $5 for shipping and only getting 10,000 in credits for it, it's definitely time to move on! Very sad and I'm pretty bummed about it too!

Your welcome. I personally just go to the post office to ship out. Be sure to get the tracking numbers (receipt) from the PO for each item, then enter them on the auctions page. Some people do the stamps.com thing and have them sent from home. You would have to ask someone else about that.
