Its not the lightest shade but its not very dark either. The only way I can explain is, as long as you don't have a very light or porcelain tone or if you have the slightest bit of color then this is perfect. It might look dark when you first open it but it blends really well. I hope that helps but if not you can go to it cosmetics.com, I believe its the first page where they show the skin tones and it shows you where medium fits. I have brown hair and blue eyes, I don't really hang out in the sun and it matches my skin tone perfect. This is the best explanation I have :)
