The listing, Gold?? has ended.

Ok, so, this is out of my realm so I figured I would make it fun =) I found this Item with some stones like Raw garnets, fossils, quartz Crystals, and a bunch of other natural things from the earth I don't know anything about. Now, this item came from an abandon storage unit, I can tell that the owner was a some kind of hunter of earth stuff...lol, please bare with me. I am thinking its gold((DISCLAIMER..I dont know if it gold or not)) it is in a small jar of water with black sand around it. I will ask questions if you want, but I know nothing about it...lol.. have fun on bidding..GL!!

Sorry, have to add my two cents in. Someone said earlier that if it was REAL gold and in water it would rust. My question for them is this, If that is true, why did Miners 'pan' for gold in creeks and streams in the old days ??? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't creeks and streams usually have WATER in them ??? And the 'gold' they 'panned' out of the 'water' was NOT rusted. Just my question, theory, opinion. We all have one. Either way. GOOD LUCK to whomever wins your auction. It's been VERY interesting.

My Mama was a great lady and she always taught us that if we didn't have anything nice to say, then to not say anything at all. We actually learned this when we were around 4-5. :) Having said that, this is a unique piece that! Good luck to you!

1. Iron-Pyrite, aka- fools gold... is more of a darker gold color, while real gold is more on the yellow & brighter side.
2. Fools gold is also more on the chunky side, has more symmetry to it, like crystals... This is real gold-- as another said... there are flakes, and roundness to it... you can tell by the pics this is NOT fools gold!!.

There is a town here known for mining. They sell bucks of dirt for people to pan for gems and gold. This is how they clean the gold up and you take it home to
Display like so. I've never heard that gold rusts .. But anyhow this is very cool and to me it's a great auction. The mystery is great with it too! It would be great to know the story behind it , but even without it...very cool :)

Gold does not rust. All of my rings would be rusty by now from the dishes I've washed, the showers I've taken, the thousands of times I've washed my hair, bathed my dogs, washed my cars..... i never take my jewelry off and i have REAL gold in a small simular jar of fluid. Mine is 24k if I'm not mistaken. So i would guess that this is real gold in this auction as well. I may list the one i have soon also.

It is not fool's gold... This is gold flakes and while it is not worth a lot, it is still real gold. (Super lightweight, that's why it floats in water). This is the kind of stuff you buy in souvenir stores in the gold country in California.

Oh and i forgot, gold shuldn't really be kept in water, you sure it's not in mineral oil. Providing it is water, i would expect the gold, if it was fools gold or iron pyrite to slightly rust.

I can confirm that the Gold is actualy golden flakes, this is based on my knowledge of gold and the amount of what you call "earth stuff" i have collected. If it was fake, eg iron pyrite as people said, it would be darker. Furthermore, unlesss it's really polished to have a smooth edge and will have square facets on it. Furthermore, the black sand i don't think is sand, at a closer inspection, i'm guessing it may be some carbon or volcanic rock. It wouldn't be sand because it is very difficult for gold to be found in sand or sand stone. It is generally formed in harder rocks. This is just based on the stuff i know and on the amount of stuff i have collected and based on a couple of images.

LoL @ "hunter of earth stuff" .... The black sand caught my attention quicker than the actual "gold" in the water... so cool. Shared!!

This is real gold flakes i have a lot of gold at i collect for years Pyrite has a darker yellow color to it that's similar to brass, while gold has a vibrant yellow color that's highly reflective to the surrounding light. Holding a piece of pyrite under the light will reveal a bright yellow color that's stronger than the dull yellow color of pyrite. Until you're able to easily identify gold, you should keep a piece of pyrite around in your pocket to compare your finds with.a true collector will know how to tell them apart gold is heavier than pyrite.

put a magnet to the bottle see if the stuff is attracted or not! Real gold is not magnetic. It does look real to me, too! I have some faux gold leaf , it does not look like this. And Pyrite or "Fool's Gold" looks nothing like this at all! Google search Pyrite it's not even a gold color!
