i bought system online and person said it was backwords compatable .....it turns on but does nothing else.
only probably good for parts ,,,not sure ...this is as is ... please only bid if you know how to fix ,,,,i do not know how and bought another ...
has cables and one cordless controller

Just for future reference, only certain 80 GB PS3s are backwards compatible. It's the CHECHE01 model. You can also get 20 and 60 GBs to play PS2 games, but it requires loading software and the games themselves via a USB flash drive or PSP. Just thought I'd share that little tidbit. ;)

i know the problem ours did the same thing just need to reset to factory settings by holding the power button on the system till it resets

the problem with the old ones is that they overheat too quick.. there is no aerodinamics in the ventalation of the old one like the new ones... i oppened the up before. and the updates kind of killed them too

Just want to confirm. The system turns on, you can get to the PS3 dashboard with all the icons and everything and can look around in it, but when you put any disc in, it won't read it? Thanks!
