The listing, Hybrid Rose Seeds Pink/Yellow & Pink has ended.

On auction is a set of 50+ hybrid rose seeds. The seeds were hand harvested from our two large rose bushes; this last fall. We have tested some of these seeds this year, and they have grown.
The seeds are free from pesticide use, because we use the hips for tea. The rose bush has been established for over five years and produces many roses and seeds! The pictures show you what the mother plants look like, and the package you will receive.
The package contains a mixture of these two rose bushes. You will receive pink rose seeds, and pink and yellow hybrid rose seeds.

I have tried many times to start rose seeds and have had no luck. How are you getting them to germinate?

You can try to germinate them before putting them in soil. Or try cutting a piece of potato off and press a few seeds into it, then plant the potato with the seed inside in the ground or pot. Water every day if in the ground. it took about 3 weeks for our roses to begin popping out of the ground.

I tried a few things, like cloning, before I gave up and stuck the seed (hip) in the ground. My husband and I planted a few that way, then put the rest in as seeds. The problem with roses is that they really like water when germinating. We watered every day. It took like three weeks before anything came up, but soon enough they popped! I use organic soils, fertilizer mix, and compost. You could try planting the seed inside of a cut piece of potato before you burry the seed in the ground. The potato acts as compost for the seeds. Let me know if you have any trouble.

I have tried germinating them first. No luck. I guess I will have to try the potato method. Had never heard of doing that with the seed only with cuttings.

if i could take a picture and show you the seeds we have growing, you can actually see part of the potato above the soil, and that baby rose bush is coming right up out of it. I actually tried to do cuttings that way and they died oddly. My husband and I really want to grow more like the mother roses we have in the back, so this year we have been messing around with last years harvest to grow some more. When we groomed the mother bushes; in late December to get the hipps, we took the bush from 5 feet to about a foot or so, and by end of feburary it was back at 5 feet. Today the bush is around seven feet with a whole bunch of flowers. I'm including a bunch of seeds, because the rose hips have lots of seeds inside of them, and naturally not all seeds come to life. However we are in drought/desert country and they bloom all spring, summer, and autumn. My friend gave me the potato idea, I was confused at first to, but surprised at how well it worked. Are you using the ground, or a pot? We made a raised bed in the front side of our home. The bed is open to the ground. Our soil also has a good amount of sand in it. (desert) The spot we picked for the seeds spends half the day in shade. I did this because i wanted to try and keep the soil wet for most of the day. The ground drys fast here, and it can really mess up a seedling. I hope that helps.

I have always tried in pots because that way I have more control over where they are. Very windy here and I can move the pots where I want them. The wind tends to dry things out quickly and the soil here is not the best and I want to give them the best I can give them. I have very green hands and have gotten a lot of things going that others have difficulty with. Amazing that they were back to 5 feet so fast. I love roses and so does my other half. So he is always buying me (and his deceased wife) roses. We split a dozen roses between the 2 of us. I enjoy choosing different ones and try to get them growing and have had some luck.

right! I was completely blown away by how fast they grew back. i told my husband while he groomed the bushes, not to kill them lol, but i think he give them a second life instead. everyday him and those bushes have issues when we go to our greenhouse. He keeps grooming the side by the steps, and every day another rose shoots up to stab him on his way down the steps. I love the bush, and I hope its baby seeds take off to and grow just like their mom. The seeds are pretty large from others I've compared them to.

That is hilarious. Guess they just want to reach out and give him a hug Or maybe it is "pay attention to me". You sound like my kind of people
