The listing, Frog Prince Shelf Collectors Plate Holder Display ANOTHER MYSTERIOUS FROG has ended.

★I found this at a yard sale months ago and he's just kinda hung out with us since. I believe it is a display shelf for a collector's plate but I honestly have no idea! The only marking is 1996 carved into the side of the gold orb . It is solid and has a bit of weight to it. It seems to be in excellent condition.

★There is a ton of detail in this. I can see brush strokes so I believe it's hand painted.

★I was fortunate to win a cute little wooden frog box that I'm very happy with... So I thought I'd return the favor!!

★Hopefully this handsome guy can find a sweet vixen to turn him into the Prince he is!

**The boring but oh so important stuff that applies to all my auctions**

##We have cats, and lots of them! I do my best to keep all items I plan on selling away from the furballs, but cat hair gets everywhere. It's impossible be 100% free of it. I do take a lint roller over items before mailing out. I will never send you a cat hair filled item so please don't worry. I'm really only listing this in case of allergies.
##If you do not respond with your mailing address within 7 days of auction ending, winner forfeits credits and auction contents.
##No buyers remorse. If you don't want to spend the credits, don't bid!
##I want my transactions to go as smooth as possible. If there's any problems or anything I can do to make things better, please contact me ASAP.

actually your frog shelf doesn't hold a collectors plate at all. i used to have a similar type shelf that had other things that when t with it in the same box when i bought mine brand new. When i bought my shelf it came with not just the shelf but also two picture frames and a mirror. I suspect my shelf is longer than the one you have. However the purpose of the indentation in the top of the shelf is to hold the cardboard stand that is on most frames that are meant for standing and you place the stand portion in the indentation to help keep it in place. I still have the shelf but no longer have the frames or the mirror that went with them. Sadly things get lost when you move and ive had mien for about ten years and three moves.

Im about 99.999% sure this is meant for a plate, not a picture frame. The little bit of research I did points to a plate as well. If the groove was the whole way across the top of the shelf, this might be the case. But it isn't. It's only a small section. Also the edges of the groove are tapered up...this is to keep the plate in place, and from rolling off the shelf!! While this could certainly hold a picture frame, only certain ones would fit, otherwise it would make the picture sit crooked.

yep. mine doesn't run all the way across either and it has the same edging. best way to know for sure is to take a small plate and try to fit it in the indentation. and i was just trying to help you figure it out. i have no plans to bid cuz im just not into frog stuff...lol

A plate fits perfectly... But I don't have a single frame that fits. The shelf is only 2" deep, with the groove being closer to the front. So the distance between the frame and the prop would have to be less then ½". All the frames I have, even a small one that holds a wallet sized photo was too big, it either hangs off or it just tips backwards. I added a picture just so you could see what I mean. I know you may be trying to help but I don't want a bidder to be confused and think it could work for a picture frame and it not be true.
