Well, are not Christmas people but we do like stockings. So, we get extra large, i mean LARGE and fill them with all the little things you need all year. Pens, pencils, notebooks, lip balm, socks, Funderwear (yes fun!) razors and anything funny. It takes at least 2 hours or more to empty the stocking and the laughter and trading between us that goes with it, priceless.
I forgot to mention...........FINALLY we got furnnature :) I was on an online yardsale and found a couch and chair set that was cheap they people delivered it and moved it for me and it is alot nicer than the pictures showed and it is so comfy :) Im happy I finally have a place to sit other than the floor :) Being pregnant that was starting to make my back and hips hurt.
I'm kind of confused. Is this auction set up so you all can chat? If so, I think that's wonderful you are all such good friends. I have a question if anyone can answer it..What are the + signs after the names?
Different kind of auction..Fanned and watching. :)
HA! Found ya!! LOL:) ...I can't tell you guys how very much I am missing all of you!!! There just isn't enough time in a day! LMBO:) ...We are so busy & going in diff. directions every day, that I am even missing Jim! His plate is full with the many foreclosures that have happened these past few months in our area & the surrounding counties as well. Just two days ago he accompanied the sheriff's office (about 50 miles away) for a foreclosure eviction & to re-key & secure the property. So sad :( Esp. this close to Christmas. Our country is in so much trouble!!! I think just about everyone is feeling it too! We've always been frugal & simple but we have taken a look at how to "tighten our belts" so-to-speak, even tighter. Just to be able to still enjoy some of the other things we do as our entertainment. For over 12 yrs. I guess it is now, we haven't allowed tv or video games & such in our home, so that has been a real Blessing esp. financially speaking during these times. ...We'd much rather spend our money on our family day every Sunday & then every other Wed. night doing family night at Pizza Hut & of course our Cape May trips. ...I'd LOVE to hear all of your creative ideas on how to stretch a buck or two?? =)
Not having a heater has definately lowered the gas bill. I think even if/when we get it fixed we will keep the house a little cooler during the winters to help conserve some of the energy and save some there.
christmas tradition,my older kids just started this in 2011, get a tablecloth and fabric markers, have each person leave "their blessing" for everyone ..little kids ,parents or whomever help make their "paw prints",I mean hand prints..and the date in the middle of the tablecloth, every holday or birthday,do it again ! Many tablecloths will be made over the years ! If you don't have a tablecloth, use a sheet ! And , indelible ink markers from the dollar store ! God bless & MERRY CHRISTMAS !
I have been so blessed lately. Yesterday we received a gc to take the family out to lunch from my mother-in-law, and a groupon from my husbands friend to go bowling/miniature golfing. We decided to do that today as a family. It was a great opportunity to spend time together. Usually we are going in so many different directions it was great to just be able to play together and sit down and talk and have fun. Thanks to you all who have helped me to become a better person and to appreciate the blessings that I have and to be able to adjust to the issues I am dealt with much better integrity. And thank you listia for allowing a great place to be able to exchange items for free, but also a great place to make amazing lasting friendships. Happy Holidays to you all!
Once upon a time, a perfect man and a perfect woman met. After the perfect courtship, they had a perfect wedding. Their life together was, of course, perfect.
One snowy, stormy Christmas Eve, this perfect couple were driving their perfect car along a winding road, when they noticed someone at the side of the road in distress. Being the perfect couple, they stopped to help.
There stood Santa Claus with a huge bundle of toys. Not wanting to disappoint any children on Christmas Eve, the perfect couple loaded Santa and his toys into their vehicle. Soon they were driving along delivering the toys.
Unfortunately, driving conditions deteriorated and the perfect couple and Santa Clause had an accident. Only one of them survived the accident. Who was the survivor?
Answer: The perfect woman survived. She’s the only one that existed in the first place. Everyone knows there is no Santa Claus and there is no such thing as the perfect man.
***Women stop reading here, that is the end of the joke.
***Men, read the next block of words.
Men: So, if there is no perfect man and no Santa, the perfect woman must have been driving, which explains why there was an accident in the first place.
By the way, if you’re a woman and you’re reading this, it only serves to illustrate another point, women never listen either.
In a small Southern town there was a "Nativity Scene" that showed great skill and talent had gone into creating it. One small feature bothered me. The three wise men were wearing firemen's helmets. Totally unable to come up with a reason or explanation, I left.
At a "Quick Stop" on the edge of town, I asked the lady behind the counter about the helmets. She exploded into a rage, yelling at me, "You damn Yankees never do read the Bible!" I assured her that I did, but simply couldn't recall anything about firemen in the Bible. She jerked her Bible from behind the counter and ruffled through some pages, and finally jabbed her finger at a passage. Sticking it in my face she said "See, it says right here, 'The three wise man came from afar.'"
Two young boys were spending the night at their grandparents. At bedtime, the two boys knelt beside their beds to say their prayers when the youngest one began praying at the top of his lungs.
"I PRAY FOR A NEW BICYCLE... I PRAY FOR A NEW NINTENDO... I PRAY FOR A NEW VCR..."
His older brother leaned over and nudged the younger brother and said, "Why are you shouting your prayers? God isn't deaf." To which the little brother replied, "No, but Gramma is!"
Sarah and her thirteen-year-old sister had been fighting a lot this year. This happens when you combine a headstrong two-year-old, who is sure she is always right, with a young adolescent.
Sarah's parents, trying to take advantage of her newfound interest in Santa Claus, reminded the two-year-old that Santa was watching and doesn't like it when children fight. This had little impact.
"I'll just have to tell Santa about your misbehavior," the mother said as she picked up the phone and dialed. Sarah's eyes grew big as her mother asked "Mrs. Claus" (really Sarah's aunt; Santa's real line was busy) if she could put Santa on the line. Sarah's mouth dropped open as Mom described to Santa (Sarah's uncle) how the two-year-old was acting. But, when Mom said that Santa wanted to talk to her, she reluctantly took the phone.
Santa, in a deepened voice, explained to her how there would be no presents Christmas morning to children who fought with their sisters. He would be watching, and he expected things to be better from now on.
Sarah, now even more wide eyed, solemnly nodded to each of Santa's remarks and silently hung the phone up when he was done. After a long moment, Mom (holding in her chuckles at being so clever) asked, "What did Santa say to you, dear?"
In almost a whisper, Sarah sadly but matter-of-factly stated, "Santa said he won't be bringing toys to my sister this year."
We do that one too. Then Christmas morning, everyone is in their new jammies for all the pictures we take. We usually stay in them most of Christmas day if not all day depending on if we decide to leave the house or not, lol.
Do to my school schedule, I will not be able to sponsor a swap for January. The first week and second weekend of January, I will be in school from 8 am until 5 pm, and we have been told to expect 3 hours of homework after each days class. So there is just no way for me to put it together. So I am thinking that we will get a jump on February swaps and start registration the middle of January. How does that sound to everyone?
Tweety, Kids say the darndest things sometimes. LOL Here's a funny one for ya: The year I was with my youngest kids dad, we had no idea what to get his sister for Christmas. So, we asked her what she wanted. She told us she wanted a hummer! She said she was joking, but that she did want one.... So when Christmas came around, he hands her the gift we bought. She opens this box to find.... nothing other than a hummer, matchbox style of course! She cracks up, and he says "well that's what you said you wanted..." After a moment, he finally gives her real gift to her. But everyone had a good laugh over the toy hummer.
I would like to wish every Listia member a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season!! Thank you for being a part of the greatest website on the internet. Season's Greetings, CliffShep
If the owner cannot get puppy formula there are homemade formulas. Here is one: a 13 oz. can of evaporated milk equal amount of water 4 oz. of plain yogurt 4 egg yolks 1 tablespoon of liquid vitamins
Goat's milk can also be used.
In some cases feeding the formula to the mom will stimulate the mom to produce more milk especially if the puppies are still tryng to nurse on her.
I'm checking in to let everyone know that I am feeling a little better tonight. Also I got to spend the day with my grandkids who I was not allowed to see for about 6 weeks due to family feud. My daughter needed something from me so invited me over and I was "stuck" babysitting. lol
I am doing good! I got the best news today and it is by far the best Christmas present ever. My mom did her mammogram and it can back cancer free! She had breast cancer before and they thought she might have it again because of like I what to call the bandaid hospital thought they found something. She went to another hospital which is more advanced and a lot better, they didnt see a thing. A major blessing to my family as now we can breath a sigh of relief. Good thing she didn't pay $5000 to get the biopsy because the bandaid hospital said they found something because it would have been wasted money.
@MamaLuv my brother and I use to do that to our mom when we were kids :) Now we use all size boxes, bags newspaper and duct tape to wrap mom and dads gifts and mom we use packing peanuts cuz it annoys her :)
Christmas traditions- well we celibrate the winter solcist on December 21st by taken oats or corn feed and sprinkle it out side for the deer and we will take potatoe peelings and left over veggies for the deer and birds and other wild life. Then Pinky gets to open a gift that isnature related. Most the time its home made like last year she got her first dream catcher. Then December 24th she puts her slippers by the door with a note to santa telling him she made cookies for him and left a treat for his deer and a water bottle. then she wakes up the 25th opens alll her gifts from me and her sunts and uncles and grandparents and then she goes checks her slippers which are full of goldfish crackers or other healthy treats she likes and a note thanking her for being so kind...and she gets one gift from santa and a couple gifts from fairies and elves and even the reindeer. (most all her gifts are clothes or blankets she gets one toy from sant which is the toy she has asked for all year.) Oh and her stocking is HUGE and it gets filled with crayons, notebooks, coloringbooks, socks, ect usually my parents and I help fill it and it is from the fairies and butterflies. (According to Pinky the Christmas story is fake all gifts come from the fairies and butterflies cuz they have magic not Santa! so we stick with it and let her beleave that.)
What is the favorite Mexican food of snowman? Answer: Brrrr- itos. (As Pinky worded it when she told me this joke was: Mommy what taco food do snowmen love? I told her I dunno....Pinky: A Burrrrrrrrrrrito mom!!!! lmao.)
1. In a microwave safe bowl, pour in pretzels. Mix together 2/3 cup oil, sugar, & cinnamon in a glass measuring cup with a spout. 2. Pour the oil mixture over the pretzels & mix well, making sure to coat all the pretzels. 3. Place in microwave for 1 minute on high but keep a close eye on them, as they might burn! 4. Stir the pretzels & continue cooking. 5. Microwave for 1 minute more but WATCH THEM, as all microwaves are different & your pretzels might burn! (I actually do mine for 45 seconds at power 8.)
6. When out of the microwave, stir again to make sure they are all coated. 7. Spread the pretzels onto two cookie sheets. You want a single layer of pretzels on each cookie sheet. 8. While they are still hot, sprinkle additional cinnamon sugar over the top of the pretzels. 9. Melt about ¼ to ½ cup of white chocolate chip morsels & a teaspoon of oil in a small glass microwave bowl on LOW power for about 1 minute, or until morsels are melted. 10. Stir & mix well until smooth & drizzle over the top of pretzels. If adding any colored sprinkles, you will need to sprinkle them on now while the chocolate is warm. 11. Once the white chocolate hardens, put the pretzels into air tight containers.
Here is the recipe for the Cinnamon Toast Pretzels I promised... I made over 200 baggies of these yummies for my customers bc they are SO DARN GOOD & EASY, as you make them in the microwave!!! Not to mention, they are inexpensive also :) ...Please post if you make some?? Remember to SHARE them!! LOL =D

Oh and this year we are starting a new tradition of maken christmas garland with cereal and such......... we use to make ginger bread houses with santa sleigh and trees, but they never turned out and always fell apart.
Oh and our one tradition of taken christmas cards to the elderly....and donating a can of food to the soup kitchen and even food pantry!!!
Oh and I forgot to mention almost all gift are wrapped with newspaper :)
I love your tradition of taking Christmas Cards to the elderly.
This year, all presents that are shared between each other have to be wrapped with homemade wrapping paper. (however, Santa is still using traditional wrapping paper. But maybe next year.)
Pinky got to see the baby today she was so excited and said the baby is famous cuz (at the office they show the sono on big screen) her baby brother or sister is on tv :)
