Description

The listing, 1 ounce Catgrass Oatseed Natural Oats- Free Shipping in US has ended.

This is for 1 ounce of seeds. Approx 700 seeds per ounce. The picture shows the actual size of package and seeds.

Why does your cat eat plants or grass? Although cats are consummate carnivores, they do crave a bit of greenery now and again. Even wild cats nibble grass blades as a between mouse snack. There is no known nutritional explanation for this behavior, although some experts suspect that cats are attracted to the high-fiber and moisture content of grass.

Whatever its purpose, "grazing" seems to be a natural feline behavior, so you should consider providing your cat with its own batch of healthy grass. Your cat will then be able to satisfy its "green tooth" without munching on your (potentially toxic) houseplants or eating lawn grass that may be tainted with pesticides or fertilizers. Many believe oat grass will aid in digestion, but maybe they just like a little kitty salad. This also will not irritate the back of a cat's throat and tongue like serrated lawn grass or wild outdoor grasses do.

Good for cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, birds, parrots, parakeets, budgies, hamsters, rabbits, ferrets, chinchillas, squirrels, guinea pigs and other small pets.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:

Choose a shallow pot so your pet has easy access. Fill the pot with sterilized packaged potting soil, leaving some space around the edge for watering. Moisten the soil, then sprinkle the grass seeds on it. Lightly cover the seeds with soil.

Potted grass will grow best in a sunny area, but remember to water it often so the soil doesn't dry out. In 3-4 days the grass should be ready to give to your cat. Keep 2 or 3 trays rotated so your cat always has some fresh oats growing.

ROTFLLLLL Your husband is my kind of cat person >'.'< I really think this will help and not encourage her. Eating houseplants isn't bad behavior, it's simply typical for purrballs.

Some say it's for the roughage, some say it's entertainment, but it's because cats are like us: carnivores and require plants along with the meat in their diet and prefer to 'hunt' their own. Your houseplants make a fun hunt, though some might attract her. No matter what the houseplants aren't safe, obviously, to eat.

You can use several methods to 'untrain' her away from your plants, and the best way to start is by getting her a plant of her own that not only is she allowed to eat, but will want to eat.

Is cat grass just regular oatseed then?

Some is, yes. It depends on how it's advertised. I'd always ask the seller. Some won't put the genus of the seed, as I just realized I didn't in this, and just call it Catgrass as if that's all you need to know. I usually always have Avena Sativa in my auctions and am ashamed of myself that I don't. I try to give you as much info as I can.

Generally there are 3-5 types of seeds that I myself know of most often sold for catgrass seed. Oats, Wheat, Orchard Grass, and I have seen Barley and Rye.

I carry both the oats (avena sativa) and orchard grass (dactylis glomerata), which is sometimes called sweet grass or timothy hay. It's used for a lot of different pets.

And I know that's a lot more than you asked, but I figured I'd expand on it, lol.
