Stephen experiences terrible nightmares due to the war and the death of his dear friend, so he is committed to a psychiatric ward for a while. Stu and Lidia have there own problems dealing with the aggressive and cruel children of the dysfunctional Lipnicki family. After he has become a little more sane, Stephen returns to the family and lends Stu his insight on the ongoing war with the Lipnickis. When Stephen dies in a mining accident, Stu knows there is only one thing to do.
