Questions & Comments
omg I haven't seen one of these in years. Asked my 12 year old niece around christmas time if she ever saw the rainbow brite cartoons.. All she said was " rainbow who?". I had this doll, a few of the sprites, and even villains sidekick Lurky, the brown larger sprite lookin guy lol. man, that makes me feel old lmao. Anyways, awesome auction =)
lol, thanks. Yeah it does feel like a long time ago when we interact with kids now ... but then not so long ago in our memories. My fav was Punky Brewster & Glomer. I was actually hoping to find the 4 seasons of Kim Possible on here to do trading for -- that is what the 2 girls I babysit really want. The seasons are kind of expensive. Thanks for the comment! Glad to have brought back good memories ;)
great, & here i thought only celebs got watched... oh wait, the doll, ur talking to her arent u ;p She says thanks, then took her star sprinkles & made a rainbow to color your day
I bet every generation says that, lol. But some things are still the same (no matter what they keep saying on the news) ... teen pregs, gamers, loners, stoners, freaks & geeks (a proud member myself), and such other 'labels' people try to climb out of the rest of their life -- trying to be someone they're not or can't be. Let's all just taste the Rainbow! oh wait that's skittles ... =p
Aww, ok, but ya might be romanticizing a bit, lol. Not all dolls/cartoons we had were sweet & innocent. She-ra, He-man, Barbie, Jem & the Holograms, Thundercats were all either big & muscle-y or sexy & wore skimpy clothes if they were good & ugly if they were bad guys. There were the sweet ones like Rainbow Bright, Pound Puppies, Gummy Bears, Punky Brewster, David the Gnome, Littles, Shirt Tales, Winnie the Pooh (a personal favorite) … etc. So yeah we did have the sweet ones, but we also had the overly-sexy women & men drawn to unrealistic & inappropriate proportions for kids to watch just like they have today. There are sweet ones today, like Caillou, Sagwa, Jacob Two-Two, George Shrinks, Little Bill, Dora, Diego, Weekenders (ok that one isn’t on anymore, but it was in the early 2000’s), you just have to find em in the haystack of all the other ones. My older sister thought the same thing of her generation’s shows (she is a lot older & was a kid of the 60’s & 70’s; she hated all the cartoons I/we watched except for Scooby Doo. She’d always say “that junk you’re watching is so lame” lol. Now I’m saying that about anime; then I slap my head & realize I sound just like her, lol.
thanks;) yeah, like rentsoftwo said, they don't make this particular doll like this anymore ... I did a quick search on amazon & they have RB dolls that look really odd, lol. They are just made of cloth. It seems like toy makers must think the hard rubber face is too much of a potential weapon (&/or material costs takes away from profits). Im glad I got to be a kid of the 80's! No one cared about our safety, & we had a blast, lol.
