In 2014, the Royal Canadian Mint added the Woolly Mammoth design to their Prehistoric Animals series. This $5 gold proof is made of .9999 fine gold and weighs 1/10 Troy oz. Like its silver counterpart, mintage of this coin was limited. Only 3,000 of these were minted.

Like other Canadian coins, the obverse of this one shows a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. This is also where the date and face value are displayed. A single woolly mammoth can be seen on the reverse against a snowy background. This side has the weight and purity inscriptions.

For being submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) within 30 days of its release date, this coin was given the Early Releases designation. After it was carefully inspected by unbiased experts, it was given the grade of Proof 70 and the Ultra Cameo designation. That means not only is this gold proof flawless, but it has excellent visual contrast as well. This coin has a mammoth label to show its grade.
