This is a created ruby and to me the color leans toward a garnet color. I don't know whether you can see this in the pic or not. I don't have any paperwork, but this is a super great ring! and it IS new! Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

It is beautiful. The color of a ruby has blue undertones; a garnet has yellow/brown undertones. This one does have more of the color of a garnet, but it is not quite a deep enough red. (Learned this when I got my first garnet birthstone ring--chatty jeweler.)
