Description

The listing, Handicap Helpers for Wheelchairs etc has ended.

Do you have an elderly relative or a friend with a walker or a wheelchair? These are things they may need. These can be sewed, knitted or croched. There3 are a Saddlebags for a walker, a wheelchair caddy, elbow and knee warmers, a bib, waterproof underpants, and waterproof bedpads. Also lap Blankets. The first 3 and the last can be made all three ways. The waterproof things need to be sewed. If you spend some time visiting in a nursing home you will see these things being used. You may make some to donate. One of these items I made for my mother when she was in a nursing home for her last 6 months. The others she wouldn't have neded and some were furnished by the home. I made the wlker saddlebage with lots of pockets including a long narrow one for knitting needles in case I'll need it someday too. This is also a NEW pattern never used.

There are patterns and insruictions for making a multi pocket caarrier to fit on a walker, a similar one for a wheel chair arm. Also patterns and instructions to make adult size bibs and plastic pants. These can be made by knitting, crocheting or sewing which ever you wish. The bibs and pants should be sewed. There is also instructions for knitting or crocheting lap blankets. I studied these things when my mom was in a nursingt home. The lap blanket on the cover was hers. I also knitted her the sweater coat shown here in my little picture. I inherited it.

Very nice collection of useful things for the walker/wheelchair user. I work with spinal cord injured vets who get around in wheelchairs. The lap robes are very useful for them cause they don't get caught in the wheels of the chair.

I took measurements of walkers and wheelchairs to calculate how long they can be. The onew over the arems of the chair are handy but can't be too lontg. It is nice to have pockets to carry stuff. My mom had a strokie and was in a nursing home for 6 months. I studied what they had and how they worked. The lap blanket in the picture I made for her.

Hi Darlin' It's me Janings Again- If the patterns for the walker is seperate ,you can keep them if I win. I have No use for them. I only need the things for the wheelchair.I Really could have used the lap blanket today, I'm in San Antonio,Texas, and it was cold today.I may not be able to use my legs but they were so cold the pain made me cry before I got home from the doc..

It is all together. I suggest you can make a very good blanket by sutting up a large blanket to your size. You can make 4 to 6 out of one larger blanket. You can also fold one up to use in a hurry. It might be bulkyu but it is quick.
