Description

The listing, 17 Richard M. Nixon Buttons and Tab From 1960, 1968 & 1972 has ended.

Up for auction are 17, yes 17 Richard M. Nixon campaign buttons, including one tab, dating all the way back to 1960. Tricky Dick was one of only three American politicians to receive the nomination of their major party three times and all three of Nixon's nominations are covered here in this collection. Here's what's included: You get a matched pair of one red and one blue Nixon/Agnew, one half blue half red Nixon/Agnew, all from '68, a "Re-elect the President" followed by "Nixon Now" from '72. Next up are two Nixon/Agnew pins, one on a white background, the other on black, both from 1968. "Nixon's the One" and "Nixon Button" are both red on white and from 1968; next is "Nixon now more than ever" from 1972 followed by a smaller size "Nixon Button". Two jugates are included in the lot, both I believe are from 1968 and feature Nixon and Agnew, one is full color with an American flag while the other is blue tone, and finally there are four pieces from the 1960 campaign against JFK when Nixon's running mate was Henry Cabot Lodge. The tab is black on gold and is from the 1960 campaign. The buttons range in size from 5/8 to 1 1/4 inches in width. All the buttons are authentic, and official, issued by the Nixon campaigns. Everything is is very good condition, save a few scratches and some general aging, considering the oldest items here are 57 years old and the youngest are 45 years old.The photo's show the front , the back and closer-ups of everything. You won't find a better starter Nixon collection anywhere. Now can you name the only other two men who were nominated by major American political party's for the presidency three times?

You pay the shipping and I'll open the bidding at 50,000! You can ship thse 1st class in a small padded envelope for under $2.00 so your shipping is too high, and you have no feedback, made no mention of payment method, and so on! Most people start off paying for their own shipping on this site until they build up their feedback. Also only the pin-back and the 3 on the bottom are originals, the rest are all reproductions!

You are correct about a couple things - I have no feedback as I am brand new on this site and it is possible my shipping is too high. However, you are totally incorrect about other things - look at the top of the auction under the starting bid amount and the expiration of the auction - It reads "Shipping only within the USA. I accept Paypal", so I did make mention of the payment method. A "small padded envelope" filled with 17 buttons will have a thickness to the package that will cause the shipping price to be greater than "under $2.00". My intent is not to profit off of shipping but rather to send out a secure package in which all the contents are protected from scratching, chipping and other damage. Lastly, you are plain out of your mind if you think any of the 17 pieces are reproductions - and from where you sit you made the charge that 13 of the 17 are reproductions. You are flat out wrong or high or both. I've been buying, selling trading and collecting political buttons for over 30 years. I don't deal in reproductions. Everything I am offering is completely 100% authentic. I don't believe in passing off fakes as real, and I'm very good at identifying a fake reproduction from an actual campaign issued authentic item. Each one of the buttons being offered in this auction (and for that matter in all my future auctions)is, and will always be 100% authentic. I am a member of APIC (American Political Items Collectors) and we do not look kindly at those who sell reproductions as authentic. So if you are going to make the charge that I'm selling reproductions as real, I take offence to that You'd need to state why you believe the 13 buttons to be reproductions. Regarding your opening bid offer, I'll pay the shipping if you get it all going buy putting down 50,000 credits as an opening bid and end up winning the auction, so let's go.

my apologies! they are so clean, they looked like reproductions! So it the bid goes above 50,000 you will be willing to pay for the shipping in that case? as you can't change the conditions on the listing, I would like to clarify that before running it on up to a a hundred thousand or two [or more!] the other bidder quickly locked in your opening bid within an hour of me making mine rediculous statement knowing that the bids will remain low when you charges shipping as a lot of Listia users won't bid when shipping ir being charged especially by a new user with no feedback! It pretty much works the same on any site I've sold on including Ebay!
