I'm in Oregon, USA and have never seen MOST of those edibles........... You're in Toronto, so I'm thinking that's colder than my area then I should be able to grow these? I'd hate to grow from seeds and find that they don't grow.
Not sure if they're male/females that need pollinating, or etc, etc...

You should be good to grow any of these in Oregon.. some are tropicals, like the pomagranite, papaya, and prickly pear. but they grow great in pot to be wintered inside. the papaya dosent like temps. lower than 10c/50f.. In Toronto it's USDA zone 6a and we've just had the mildest winters I've ever seen.. depending where you live in Oregon, it's might be colder or warmer than me here or the same. The lake effects Toronto's Weather making it quite mild, at least compared to most of Canada and some of the U.S..

As for polination.. I'm not too sure.. I know the cuccumber needs both male and female flowers and that I read that one may have to do the polination of the papaya. but It think most plant flowers are generally are both male and female. but I'm not really an expert on this.

I feel there's a way to grow any of these in any zone.. The all vary in their growing zones some are tropicals please see reply below. none of these plants need a colder zone and most are annuals, I will include growing zone with the simple instructions printed for the winner. some of these would do better in hotter zone with a longer growing season, or if your in a colder zone you could start some inside early. some of these would be perrenials in a hotter zone like the runner bean, but grown as an annual in colder zones

Thanks so much!! :) while the lemon cucumber and the Crystal apple cucumber are somewhat similar. they are not the same, this one is more creamy white, and I think slightly larger.

Does the apple cucumber taste like a cucumber or does it have a different taste. I used to grow papaya in Florida and after the tree was about 4 feet tall or so u would cut it down to about 2 feet in height and it would sprout 2 branches aand then set fruit on those. Mine were about the size of footballs and were sweet like sugar. I had a phillipino friend who would make some of the unripened ones into a relish. MMMM MMMMMMM good. FYI
