Questions & Comments
I bought one for my son, identical, and it wasn't cheap then. Yes, it's plastiic. But, heavy duty plastic. It's vintage but not an antique. That is the only hint of dating it. These were very popular. They had this one and one with him on a real working safe. I had both versions and gave one to each of my boys. They are collectable. Good luck hope it goes high in bids
They are 2 dif types of these plastic and cast iron the cast iron ones are antique n heavy as all get out n can be worth 2000$ or more depending on condition the newer ones sell on ebay for around 20-30$ just a lil info on this as i have one of the cast iron ones thats been in the family for aprox 60yrs or so
People are so rude these days. No need for it at all. As far as it's value is concerned, this "Uncle Sam" is just one symbol of our patriotism and, therefore, as valuable as it gets. Watching ;-)
LOL, you were absolutely gracious in your responses and your spelling is just fine. I don't know why others would think they should correct you. Good grief! LOLLLL!!! You're doing just dandy! ;-)
i'm selling one of the cast iron versions of these on ebay. this version isn't worth much. i had one like it as a kid. this is the cheap, plastic replica, not worth anything. the one i have is worth quite a bit. there is an even older version worth much more, so i'm told.
I have one of these that looks exactly like this one, except it's all metal and very heavy. My husband and I are cleaning out our house so we can move in a year or two (lol will take me longer!$, but he wanted to throw this away?! Idk what mine would sell for, anyone have any idea?
I seen them talking on pawn stars saying that the one that's made of steel/iron was the older more sought one, yours is made in Hong Kong so that in itself dates it to pretty new. But old new I'm guessing lol, good luck too ya I'm sure it will go for a decent amount, it's very nice !!
My daughter and nephew where both born in 1976. My Father bought 2 of these one for each for their 1st piggy bank they are cast iron and they still have them . Dad is gone but they won't part with they !!
you can look these up easy enough on Ebay, the 1980's 'plastic' model with button sells for about $10, most of your 60's -80's metal are in the same $10-$30 range if you find an original from June 8th, 1886 your looking at maybe $500. probably the most common metal bank of all!
When you consider the original cost 150. Isn't that high. Then you have to consider shipping. It's not unreasonable. This is in excellent condition. No, I don't know the seller, In Reply to a message I received.
This coin bank is a replica and has little to no true value. Now if it was the original cast iron bank of this same design its value depends on the paint left on it and if it's still in working condition. Go to an antique store and you will see the difference from yours and the original antique.
