Easy to grow, this vigorous 12- to 25-foot vine simply erupts with 3 to 4 months of bright blooms! Cypress Vine is the perfect screen, with lacy, fern-like foliage elegant enough for the patio yet dense and lush, for superb coverage. The rich red blooms form neat, 5-pointed stars with long trumpet-shaped throats.
Cypress Vine is a sun-loving annual and is not picky about soil type. A good choice for the less-rich soils near fences and against structures.
•Best sown indoors, 6-8 weeks before planting out, at alternating temperatures of 68° and 86°
•Expect germination in 10-15 days
•Outdoors, seeds may be sown, after all danger of frost is past in the spring, when the soil is warm
•Soak the seed in warm water for 24 hours prior to sowing or clip or notch the seeds
•If sowing seed outdoors, we recommend a maximum planting depth of 4X the width of the seeding:
Transplant when there are at least two sets of true leaves.
Spacing: Plant out 12-15 inches apart in an acidic, rich, moist, well-drained soil in full to partial shade.
Soil: Plant in normal, loamy garden soil. Very tolerant of poor soils.
Lighting: Site plant in an area that has full sunlight.
A 12-25 foot long, climbing vine to be grown on a structure: trellis, fence, or arbor.
