Description

The listing, 1959 4 Cent Silver Centennial Print Block has ended.

The 4-cent Silver Centennial commemorative postage stamp was issued through the Virginia City, Nevada, post office on June 8, 1959. The stamp's design, based on an old print, depicts Henry Comstock at the Mount Davidson site of the rich silver deposit discovered by Patrick McLaughlin and Peter O'Riley.

The central subject is framed by "Silver Centennial 1859 1959" at the left and top and "United States Postage 4c" across the bottom in a lettering style suggested by P.T. Barnum type, a series based on lettering fashions of the 1850s.
This print block is in "New" condition and the glue is intact. It has been stored in a protective sleeve since its purchase in 1959.
