is there any tarnish on the product?

. . . None on the tack itself. A very very slight amount on the clip, only noticeable in sunlight on close examination.

. . . The dark spots you're seeing in the pics (top half of the clip in 1st pic & top third of the clip in 2nd pic) are reflections.
