Here today, we have a nice AGAVE baby. Many folks are going to a "Zero Landscape" design in their yards, to save water. This little baby will grow up to be a stunning addition to your yard. Since we are now into FALL---I do NOT suggest you plant it straight into the yard THIS YEAR...since WINTER is coming---Yea---winter REALLY IS coming---eventually. My suggestion is to plant it in Succulent/Cactus Potting soil and keep it in a bright window in the house until spring. That will give it a little more time to GROW and keep it protected from harsh weather this winter. If you live in a desert climate, or one with mild winters---there probably would not be a problem at all.
CAUTION--The ONLY draw back with Agave (in all varieties) are the needle-like thorns on the end of each leaf. You really have to be careful NOT to get jabbed---even when they are SHIPPED., so OPEN CAREFULLY!!! I have clipped the needle like thorns for shipping, however. PHOTOS are STOCK PHOTOS---this is NOT the plant you will receive!!!
As with all agave---since they are a member of the cactus family---these take very little water. Except in long droughts--they can live with just rain water, and will live nicely in most soils. They are not fussy at all.
