Pixie, what type of camera do you have? Be sure to use the macro setting so you get closeup detail. Also, I take all my photos on a white background (the black background photos you see in my listings are usually stock photos) and I don't use a flash normally. It takes a while to set up a little "photo studio" spot you can use, and figure out the camera settings, but once you do, you can usually take photos pretty quickly.

Also, do you have photo editing software? I use HP Photosmart, which is a free download. It takes a little time to learn, but once you do, you can edit a photo in a few seconds. I use it to crop my items, adjust exposure/bright/contrast, and to adjust the colors to make them more accurate if needed. Makes a huge difference!

Yeah, it is a phone camera and I can not find the macro setting on it. So, that is about as good a close up as I am going to get and I am disappointed, because I do know having a clear, well detailed photo is key to getting the best offers.

I will check out the site you suggested and tinker with it on some up coming photos. I have a couple of thing I am working on and I would be much happier if I could get a good clear/detailed photo. Thank you for all the advice. You are the true gem on this site!

Oh, good luck with it. It CAN be frustrating at first. When you put a memory card in your computer it may ask if you want to download the photos with HP Photosmart. That's how I do it. If you do that be sure to set up your "settings" so it removed the photos from your memory card (unless you want to save them). It will create a folder called "recent" to download them into, but you need to tell the program where you want that folder located. When the editing program boots, you also have to tell it where to place the edited photos (I put them in my "Listia" folder). If you don't do that stuff, you'll be hunting all over your computer for them!

yeah, I tinkered with it a few. But, I can see that I am going to have to take the time later, to really sit down, study and play with it.

Phone cameras can take really good snapshots, but you need a "real" camera to get good closeups of really small things. Even most decent digital cameras do not do a good job, that's why I highly recommend the Canon A540, other more recent A-series cameras or the more elaborate S-series cameras (which are a lot more expensive). It's worth having a decent camera.

The Kodak and other brand basic digital cameras CAN work, it's just a lot harder to get the super detail on a macro photo. You have to hold them a LOT further away because their "length of focus" is longer (i.e. you can't focus as closely as you can with the Canon cameras). You can't get the same level of detail.

I bought about a dozen cameras at an online auction a few years back~~my kids kept breaking/losing their cameras, so I stopped buying new ones and wanted to have spares handy. So I experimented with quite a few brands. Canon is the way to go.

The main problem is my hands shake, sometimes I get really nice closeups. But, It serves it purpose for now, until I can get a proper camera.

And I do agree that Cannon is THE camera to have. Had one before and I loved it. But, I bought a new digital camera and gave the manual lens camera away to a friend, wish I had it back now. That thing could focus in on something I could not clearly make out with the naked eye!

Maybe I will look around the site. That is one thing I haven't looked at yet. Been too busy building bracelets for family and friends and gathering goodies for later in the month. <3

I sometimes prop my camera on a box. You can still hold it up, but if it is stabilized with something under it, that helps a lot. With a better camera you'll have better results, I'm sure. If you have a relatively new cell phone, you could try tinkering with the camera settings. Also, use a bright desk lamp, preferably with a daylight or natural color bulb, and don't use the flash. If you use a regular bulb it will probably give you a yellowish color, which you can fix to some extent with the software, but you might also be able to change settings on your camera. Just have to experiment.

Kind of hard to prop a cell phone up, but I did do that with my camera.

And the photo camera doesn't have a flash and yes, my lighting could be better on a lot of my items. But, I am a night owl and most of my auctions are listed late in the evening. Then. all I have is the overhead light here in the office. So, I do try my best to get good natural defused daylight. Always the best light for good close up photos.

I hope I win these!!! I need these so bad!! Every shade I've bought for my daughter always sits weird in my car or she plays with them and breaks them!! Lol I've gone through about 4 Disney princess shades already!! These would be PERFECT!!

I hope you do win the auction then. Need is far more important than want. :) I had 4 and used 2 myself, as I was taking very long trips to F.L. and my right arm wanted to burn. They are super sticky and if done by direction {included}, they are spotless and easy to remove or relocate.

Also, I think these are far superior to any Disny brand window tint sheets, no matter how cute!

Yeah I had wondered why the shades were only a few dollars, I definitely got my money's worth and left them a negative review on amazon lol. Do you know what company these are made by?

These are made by SUNSHADE. I bought them in Florida several years back, but ended up buying a new truck and did not need 4, only 2.

They have been rolled in their tubes for a few years, so the best thing to do, before you try to place them, is run each one, through near boiling water (or if you have very hot tap water) and then lay flat and add a few heavy books if needed, until install.

Super easy, very sturdy materials and will work on any window or glass surface.
