Hello and thanks :) the necklace is really like a longer choker style (about 8 3/4 inches drop when not on the neck - or 17" inch strand length when opened up. Hope this helps :)

Thank you :) The necklace is actually a very nice twisted cotton strand (with black and gray strands) which can adjust a little bit at the top. You can easily put the heart onto another type of chain or leather strand if you do not like the strand style.
