Never used or carried , Pristine condition .
CASE XX , 3 DOT , 1977 , Length 2 3/4' closed , 4 2/4' open , 2 Blade .. I think it is a Peanut knife but not sure on that ** As always when I do a lot of listing for the Lady's , I have to pick a knife for the Gentlemen :-) or of course like me there might be a Lady whom collects vintage knifes also :-) Everything is tight on it & of course after all these years those blades are sharp as can be!!!

the knife box has case`s website printed on it in your picture. are you sure this knife was made in 1977 or 1997? the first website went live on august 6, 1991.

I go bye the Dots , the # you will find all different ones .. put the case xx then the # , then 3 dot & see if you can search it like that , it will explain the dot system , I have some older than this in original boxes / with date on them . I am not saying your wrong by no means , search like I put to do . Case knifes were being made long before 1991 though , computers were not available to everyone for manufactures to even have websites until a certain time . This has been in my possession for approx. 18-20 yrs. ...But certainly try that way ...This is your second questioning & I am an honest person although I as well as anyone can make mistakes :-)

by no means was i questioning your honesty.....if i recall, i think i once checked their dot numbering system. 1977 could be a model number. i`ll look into it further since there is still 12 or so days left in the auction. on the other hand, if you acquired it new 20 years ago, that would make the date 1997.....

I acquired from an Estate Auction . I have quite a Large collection , I don't let many go , I only do CASE , the old original PUMAS not the new ones that the blades are assembled elsewhere than Germany as with my old Hen & Roosters , I learned from an avid knife collector for many years :-) he is gone now . But I have a Good Friend who helps me also :-) so on the other hand I am well educated on these but as I said mistakes can be made by anyone , so far if you look on my profile I have let go of some nice ones , haven't been wrong yet . Have a Nice Day :-)

I would think its from 1977 with 3 dots.. 1970 would have 10 dots, and so on..

Yes :-) The dot system after 2 dots , it is confusing though ** Thank you my kind Friend :-)

wow......I`m impressed.........I have quite a collection also, but none of them are made by case......if it is indeed a 1977 model year, someone must of put it a newer box.

yes, after checking out case`s dot code system, I would agree that it was indeed made in 1977 as long as the S does not look like a lightning bolt. the box could not of came with that particular knife originally because of the website on the box. . thankx for your prompt responses and I`ll be looking forward to more great items from you.

the last 2 digits, 20, indicate that it is a peanut, but I can`t make out the first one. the 2nd number 2 stands for the number of blades. the first number should be a 6?
Dec 6th, 2017 at 7:37:01 PM PST by
Original
Yes :-) #6 is correct , also your correct on the letters they placed differently on that particular era , no that box was use just to take pictures for leverage to see photos better .. I am glad you found that information , not because of this but it also is very interesting especially when you collect as I do ..as a collector I can never get enough information :-) I would like to share this with you >>also a good vintage knife that is now just getting recognized & people are jacking the prices up is Bear or Bear & Son , same manufacture , out of Alabama , very well made , the bone handle & older ones wood handles , some rare wood . I have quite a few that are precious to me , I am glad you got that information , I was beginning to feel bad about it as I know I am a woman , thought that was why . But its all good now . Have a nice day !!!

ya, i saw a documentary of the bear and son knife company telling about them as being one of the very few products actually still made in america. just like collecting anything, information is knowledge. you should go through your collection and label them by year. you might even have a real rare one even though they may appear to be brand new. great conversing with ya!!!!!!!!

You are most welcome indeed!! A great looking knife indeed!! It has a lot of sentimental value to me. My father owned one just like it that he used when we were fishing together. He passed away in 2005, and somehow the knife was missing. That is why I am very interested in this one. Looking to replace it. Thanks for listing it I really appreciate it very much!! :)
